An interview with Ferran Adria and Lisa Abend  - The Sorcerer's apprentices: A Season in the Kitchen at Ferran Adria's El Bulli

Which restaurant receives 2,000,000 requests for reservations per year for only 8,000 seats? Where has the eating experience been described as "magical"? At the mythical El Bulli, a shrine of gastronomy in a remote corner of Costa Brava in Catalonia, Spain where the most controversial chef on the planet,  Ferran Adrià,  and his team have revolutionized modern cuisine with dishes intended to challenge, delight, provoke and surprise.

Lisa Abend a journalist based in Madrid, has been Time magazine's correspondent in Spain, where she covered from international terrorism,  to economy, bullfighting and food for Times and other national magazines.  But she loves food and  regularly contributes food stories to major American newspapers and food magazines.  She also hosts an episode on Andalusia in PBS' Diary of a Foodie. Lisa is also the author of the recently published The Sorcerer’s Apprentices:  A Season in the Kitchen at Ferran Adria’s el Bulli, the fascinating story of 35 interns or stagiaires lucky enough to have been accepted to the inner sanctum of the best restaurant in the world
