On Friday, January 25, 8:45 a.m. through 10:00 a.m.  Kick off of the breakfast Series @ the Brazilian Court Hotel with author Alex Witchel.  The New York Times Magazine staff writer, who originated the “Feed Me” column for its Dining section, will speak with Palm Beach Post’s Literary Critic, Scott Eyman, about her new book, All Gone: A Memoir of My Mother's Dementia. With Refreshments. Is there any contract tighter than a family recipe?” When Witchel’s ultracapable mother began to exhibit undeniable signs of dementia, her plan to "fix it" were undone by medical reality.  As her mother continued to disappear in plain sight. Witchel retreated to the kitchen, and tried to reclaim her mother by cooking the comforting foods of her childhood, which helped her come to terms with the phenomenon of “ambiguous loss."  Witchel's  experience is recounted in a frank, bittersweet, and surprisingly funny book that offers true balm for an increasingly familiar form of heartbreak.

Tickets, $100 plus tax, include breakfast, valet parking and a copy of the book.
