CHEF JOHNNY V HEADS TO THE BIG APPLE FOR BEARD DINNER AND TODAY SHOW
Chef Johnny Vinczencz, the chef/owner of Johnny V, located at 625 East Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, will prepare a "Bubbles & Barbeque" dinner paired with Champagne Laurent Perrier at the James Beard House in New York City on Wednesday, June 8, and will make his first appearance on NBC's The Today Show on Thursday, June 9. Chef Vinczencz summer-themed kitchen segment on The Today Show will focus on his own style of barbecue cooking and his signature dishes, including "Picnic In a Glass" - BBQ seared jumbo shrimp served in a martini glass with a scoop of rock shrimp potato salad and chipotle cocktail sauce. GREG MCDANIEL, EXECUTIVE CHEF OF THE ALEXANDER RESORT INTRODUCES HEALTHY KIDS MENUS.
Chef Greg McDaniel, a graduate from the CIA,Culinary Institute of America in New York and the former executive chef at the National Hotel in Miami Beach, has been appointed Executive Chef of The Alexander Oceanfront Resort, where he oversees all culinary operations and administration for banquets, catering special events and the hotel's signature restaurant Shula's Steak House. Before coming to Miami in 1991, as Sous Chef at the Doral Resort and Country Club, and later at the Sonesta Beach Resort Key Biscayne, Chef McDaniel honed his skills at Kaspar's By the Bay in Seattle, Washington and the Jefferson Sheraton Hotel in Richmond, Virginia. Chef McDaniel's cuisine based on fresh local products extends to a "Healthy Happy Kids Menu," a program based on kids' favorite foods such as hamburgers and pastas by using low fat, low calorie ingredients, intended to help fight obesity among children. The new "Happy Healthy Kids Menu" includes Caesar salad, chicken burger, spaghetti & meatballs, and vanilla & banana smoothie and is served at The Treetop Bar And Grill, Top of the Falls, and Shula's Steak House. BICE RISTORANTE OPENS IN LE MERIDIEN SUNNY ISLES BEACH
Raffaele Ruggeri, the 32-year-old grandson of the global restaurant group's founder Beatrice Ruggeri, has opened the group's newest Florida BiCE Ristorante, the latest of a 70-year old chain with locations in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the U.S. , in the lobby level of the new oceanfront resort Le Meridien Sunny Isles Beach. The restaurant offers indoor dining, as well as al fresco oceanfront seating. Chefs Matteo Migliorini and Marcello Rivetti - both long time BiCE chefs, offer a menu of Northern-Italian dishes and Milanese-inspired specialties, with a selection of pastas, antipasta, salad, fish, chicken, and meat. Prices range from $11 - $42, as well as a "Mayan sushi bar," a flagship for the future fusion sushi bars Bice plans to open in French Polynesia later this year. Bice's staff will also run the hotel's room service, poolside/beach service and catering. Le Meridien Sunny Isles Beach is located at 18683 Collins Avenue, North Miami Beach.

SUGO RESTAURANT AT THE SANCTUARY HOTEL, SOUTH BEACH
Zen-like pampered privacy is what the recently opened 29-room Sanctuary Hotel is offering. African Wenge hardwood floors and Balinese Mother of Pearl decorations lead to a central bamboo garden courtyard with a waterfall, a bar serving kumquat mojitos (the house specialty drink) and then the 55-seat indoor/outdoor Sugo Restaurant, including the "Chef's communal table" overlooking the open kitchen. Sugo (meaning "sauce" in Italian) is the latest venture of restaurateurs Tommy Billante and Manuel Paucar of Carpaccio's in Bal Harbour and many more. The Italian menu specializes in Filetto Della Casa-pâté de foie gras, porcini mushrooms, and Barolo sauce-and Capellini Lobster with radicchio and crab. An additional bonus is that the hotel is offering 25-percent discount for women who like to vacation solo. Whether it applies to the restaurant isn't known yet.
