Monday, May 10, , Chilies, Congas and Celebrities at The 14th Annual James Beard Foundation Awards, the nation's top honors for culinary professionals, held at the New York Marriott Marquis. Over 60 awards will be bestowed upon chefs, restaurateurs, winemakers, broadcast and television journalists; cookbook authors and interior and graphic designers, by celebrities and heavy-hitters of the food and entertainment industries. The ceremony will be immediately followed by a festive walk-around reception themed "¡Sabor Latino! - Latin Flavor" featuring over 30 chefs from North, Central and South American countries, and the Spanish Caribbean. The reception chefs, led by mother and son team, Zarela Martínez (Restaurant Zarela, New York City) and Aarón Sanchez (Paladar, New York City), have created a menu featuring both traditional and "Nuevo Latino" cuisines of Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia, Panama, Peru, Brazil, Venezuela and Cuba - to name a few.
