Bigi, Orvieto Torricella 2002 (Umbria) ($11.99)
A delicious blend of Procanico, Grechetto, Malvasia and Verdelho grapes, all from the Torricella vineyard sites in Umbria. Bigi is the leading brand of Orvieto, a region known for its blended wines.. This wine has a brilliant straw color with pale green hues, is well-balanced with a delicate aroma and a dry, elegant complex taste and a pleasant finish.

Villa Rosa, Gavi di Gavi 2003 (Veneto) ($12.99)
Owned by the Opici family, Villa Rosa is named after founder Hubert Opici's wife, Rose. This wine is 100% Cortese from the commune of Gavi. It is fragrant and fruity with nuances of apples, melons and tropical fruit, yet dry and elegant, with good acidity and a clean finish. It is best to drink it young.

Carpineto, Dogajolo 2002 (Tuscany/Montepulciano) ($9.99)
The Carpineto Estate sits in the heart of the Chianti Classico Zone, 1300 feet above sea level, and the winery is prominent among Tuscan wineries. A budget Super-Tuscan, Dogajolo is 80% Sangiovese grape and 20% Cabernet. It has an intense deep ruby color and is fruit forward with cherries and herbs with accents of coffee and hints of vanilla. Big and complex it is round on the palate with soft tannins. Pairs superbly with chicken and meat dishes, and even with chocolate desserts.

D'Angelo Aglianico "Sacravite"2002 (Basilicata) ($12.99)
This is a winery which until 1958 sold their wines wholesale in barrels. In 1964 they began bottling and in 1971 D'Angelo Aglianico was granted official DOC. The wine is 100% Aglianico grape from Basilicata, dark purple and redolent of wild berries and plums.Its deep flavors and tannins are characteristic of this ancient variety. Match with stews and game.

Rainoldi Rosso di Valtelina 2002 (Lombardy) ($14.99)
This wine is made from 100% Nebbiolo, a grape, native to the Piedmont region, known for is aromatic complexity and fullness of flavors. It is elegant and medium-bodied with firm acidity and bright red fruit which recalls Pinot Noirs. Fabulous with pastas and fish like salmon.
