2002 ALAMOS MALBEC ($8.99 at Top Hat or Crown)
It's a dark violet, lush 100 % Malbec from the high altitude wine country of Mendoza in the Andes, with aromas of black cherries and black currants typical of this fruity grape. Full-bodied with a good acidity balance due to soft and ripe tannins, this wine has a smooth mouthfeel with flavors of blackberry, toast and vanilla, and a pleasant finish. It accompanies most everyone of your favorite foods, including meats, hearty salads, cheeses and salmon. An exceptional price/quality value
2002/3 TERRAZAS MALBEC ($8.99 at Top Hat or Crown)
Luckily this wine from the Colección Chandon in high-altitude terraced vineyards in Mendoza is widely available in South Florida. It is attractive from it's dark garnet hues to it's aromatic flavors with refined soft blackberry fruit and hints of oak, vanilla and orange peel. The finish is great thanks to the good tannins and the balanced acidity. This wine can easily pass for a high-end, high-priced wine.
2002 ALAMOS CABERNET SAUVIGNON ($8.99 at Top Hat or Crown)
A classic 100 % Cabernet Sauvignon aged 9 months in French and American oak. It is deep ruby-red with an intense nose of red berry fruit mixed with eucalyptus and mint, and a complex palate packed with ripe red currant and plum with hints of cedar, spice and black pepper. A good finish, velvety tannins make this wine a real bargain.
